The flagship project at Al Qusais landfill is under the jurisdiction of Dubai Municipality. Al Qusais landfill is currently the only landfill in the Middle East to produce power from landfill gas. “As entrepreneurs we are proud that this standalone project is setting the benchmark in the region for alternative energy. The Al Qusais landfill site operations and the Dubai Municipality site operations are all being powered by the landfill gas”. “Our goal is not to create more landfills but to optimize the existing ones and create a source of power for the long term. Supporting the vision of Dubai Municipality to create a better life for the citizens of Dubai” ” Future developments include the development of the closed Jebel Ali landfill site for Dubai Municipality and the ramping up of power at the Al Qusais site to 20 Mw by 2020. Green Energy Solutions & Sustainability LLC was awarded the “Green Initiative of the Year 2014” at the Big Project ME for the Al Qusais Landfill. As a company we are targeting landfill gas projects in the region, all landfills must be degassed and that gas can provide power that is a sustainable source of renewable energy. GESS was established in October of 2011 with the implementation of the Al Qusais landfill site as a showcase that was achieved through hard work and an unwavering vision. GESS is now looking at other sites across the UAE and the MENA region to duplicate this initiative.
